Dr. İlke Ercan Named Educator of the Year for the BSc Electrical Engineering Programme
- Wednesday, 17 June 2026
İlke Ercan has been selected as Educator of the Year for the BSc Electrical Engineering programme at TU Delft, following nominations and votes from students.
The annual Educator of the Year recognitions celebrate lecturers who make an exceptional contribution to student learning, inspire their students, and create engaging and supportive learning environments. The awards are organized by the student study associations, with winners selected based on student nominations and voting.
For the Electrical Engineering programme, the award was coordinated by the Electrotechnische Vereeniging (ETV), the study association representing Electrical Engineering students at TU Delft. The ETV has a long tradition of supporting educational quality and representing student interests within the programme.
The Electrical Engineering department warmly congratulates İlke on this well-deserved recognition and thanks the students who took the time to recognize excellence in teaching.
Recognition Across EEMCS
Several other colleagues across the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS) were also recognized by students for their contributions to education.
Stefan Hugtenburg was selected as Educator of the Year for the BSc Computer Science and Engineering programme. The award was organized by W.I.S.V. 'Christiaan Huygens', the study association for Applied Mathematics and Computer Science students at TU Delft.
In addition, Stefan received the distinction of EEMCS Faculty Educator of the Year, recognizing his impact on education across the faculty.
For the Mathematics programme, students selected Wiiem Schouten-Straatman and Emiel Lorist as Educators of the Year, acknowledging their dedication to student learning and educational excellence.
These recognitions demonstrate the important role that inspiring educators play in the academic experience of our students. Being selected by students themselves makes these awards especially meaningful, reflecting the appreciation of those who experience the impact of excellent teaching firsthand.
Join us in congratulating İlke, Stefan, Wiiem, and Emiel on their achievements and thanks them for their continued commitment to outstanding education.
