dr. M. Johns

Postdoc
Bioelectronics (BE), Department of Microelectronics

Biography

Maby Johns joined the Bioelectronics group in September 2026 as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Microelectronics. His research focuses on electrochemical sensing systems for continuous biological monitoring. Before joining TU Delft, he conducted doctoral research at the University of Antwerp on self-powered electrochemical sensing, including wearable sweat sensors and 3D-printed microneedle-based sensors for in-planta monitoring. His experience also covers low-power sensor readout, wireless communication and ambient energy harvesting for autonomous sensing systems. At TU Delft, he contributes to SmartWeave, a project focused on developing a smart textile armband for monitoring lithium ions and metabolites in sweat. Outside research, he enjoys playing basketball and volleyball, travelling and exploring new technologies.
